Peggy Antrobus (born 1935) is a feminist activist, author, and scholar from the Caribbean. She served as Advisor on Women’s Affairs to the government of Jamaica, and as United Nations advisor to the Barbados Ministry of Social Transformation 

Sonia M. Cuales was born in Curacao. She studied anthropology and development sociology at Leiden University, the Netherlands, doing field research in Curacao on women and export-oriented electronics industries and in Colombia on women and export-oriented flower industries. She actively participated in the women’s movement, especially the Antillian Women’s Organizations in the Netherlands, has lectured on women at the University of the Netherlands. She has published numerous articles on the subject of women in the Caribbean. She served as the Project Officer, UNICEF Regional Office in Larin America and the Caribbean in Bogota, in charge of UNICEF assistance to Guyana and Suriname

 

Dr. Rawwida Baksh is an International Gender Consultant. She is a researcher, writer, policy adviser and activist. She was a founding member of Women Working for Social Progress and the Caribbean Association for Feminist Research and Action. She lectured in Language and Linguistics at The UWI, St. Augustine, was Head of Gender at the Commonwealth Secretariat, London; and Program Leader on Women’s Rights and Citizenship at the International Development Research Centre, Canada

She was a Board member of the Women’s Resource and Outreach Centre, a founding member of the Caribbean Association for Feminist Research and Action, Coordinator of the Caribbean Policy Development Centre; 1991-1995, and was involved in discussions leading to the establishment of the IGDS.

 

 

 

Honor Maria Ford-Smith is a Jamaican actress, playwright, scholar, and poet. She studied theatre at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, was a co-founder and artistic director of Sistren, a theatre collective of working-class Jamaican women established in 1977.

 

Professor Rhoda Reddock, former Head of the Centre for Gender and Development Studies, was appointed Deputy Principal of the St. Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies in August 2008. In March 2002 she was awarded the 7th Triennial CARICOM Award for Women and in 2000, Professor Reddock was the Claudia Jones Visiting Professor in Africana New World Studies at Florida International University. Professor Reddock has served as consultant for a number of international agencies, including the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Union.
